Dinner’s on Us!!

April is Autism Awareness month. Instead of a speaker this month we are going to have a parent roundtable. What better way to celebrate than to hang out with other parents who are going through the same thing. Several parents will be talking about their experiences with the Son-Rise program and then we will have an open discussion on lots of topics. Nothing is off limits. We will be having pizza and salads at this meeting. So don’t worry about dinner come and have it with us. We hope that this meeting is a relaxed and laid back time for parents to connect and get ideas from other parents. It will give us all some time to just chat.

The Super Social Skills Support Group will be in Room C for spectrum kids and their siblings. The kids will be using paint at this meeting so please wear “old” clothes. The kids will be painting their own masterpieces. Please register your child before this event. Please RSVP prior to this event for availability.

As any sports fan will tell you, eating wings is one of the finer pleasures in life. Eating wings and raising money for your favorite charity is even better. EagleSticks Golf Club is home of the “Dumpster Challenge”, Zanesville’s only food challenge. The “Dumpster Challenge will take on various formats, with the inaugural event on November 21st, 2012. The inaugural event will feature three brave souls raising money for their favorite charity. They will attempt to eat 6lbs. of wings in 30 minutes.

Chad Coconis- Chad is a semi-professional wing eater, and is showcasing his game for the National Autism Association of South Eastern Ohio. Chad’s son, Sam, is autistic. Chad is Dumpster Diving to raise money and also to raise awareness to how many families deal with autism every day of their lives.

Money raised for the event will go to the National Autism Association of Southeastern Ohio (NAASEO). The NAA’s mission is to educate and empower families affected by autism. As many of you found out last year, Autism is not covered by insurance so all treatments, medication and therapies are paid out of pocket by the family, which can be very expensive. Money raised will help families get the proper treatment for their children they otherwise would not be able to provide. We want to thank everyone for their continued support of our 3nd Annual Tee It Up Fore Autism event. We have a great day in store for you with great prizes in both our raffle and silent auction.
